I made a version of this for a teacher-appreciation-christmas gift one year. I came across this recipe again & I plan on making 5 of these simmering potpourrie jar gifts this month. What a great idea for a simple-to put-together gift for friends/family! Adding red hots candies is a good idea too.

Are you sitting the mason jars right on the stove burner or do you have an electric simmer plate like those used for candles?

Never put a mason jar on a stove burner .

use a small pot You can find one at your local thrift store and bring it to simmer . Shut it off . It will keep the smell going until the mixture cools .

Never leave it going As you may forget it .
