Making a Bespoke Pencil Case

Veronica Roth
by Veronica Roth
Recently I made a pencil case from two rectangles of raw canvas. It's not too difficult and you end up with a one of a kind pencil case.
Here are the steps:
I taped the corners of the canvas on some paper, and I drew my design in pencil and outlined it in a sharpie. I wanted a Frida Kahlo theme because I'm going to take it to hold my art supplies on my vacation in Mexico.

Then I used my acrylics to colour the design in.
Then I did the same thing with the second rectangle, When dry, I carefully ironed the backs of the canvases to flatten them.
Canvas frays so I finished the edges with my serger, and then fitted a bright, red zipper.
Then I sewed the pencil case around the three sides, trimmed off the threads and turned it right side out.
And there you are! A one of a kind pencil case.
