Winter Mantel

Okay, it's not really a mantel, it's a shelf, but you get the idea! :) I searched my home for pieces I could use to give a winter feel to my dining room shelf without breaking the bank. I had all of these things in the house, so this project was totally free!
Use contrasts of light and dark and different textures to create visual interest.
I love the vintage look, but sometimes you have to use what you can find. I bought the vintage looking keys new a few years ago. They still give a vintage look, which is what I like. It's okay to mix new and old finds together!
Wrap books in kraft paper and tie up with twine to add a little character.
I loved these snowflakes from my daughter's Christmas tree, so I reused them in this vignette. They give the shelf that extra snowy feel!
