Easily Paint Your Shutters

Modern Masters
by Modern Masters
The fabulous Debbie Hayes of My Patch of Blue Sky was our guest blogger on ModernMastersCafe.com and she told us a little more about her front door transformation which included transforming her shutters, too - both with our non-fade Front Door Paint line!
Debbie had faded and weathered shutters that were peeling pretty badly. The oxidized green color also did not coordinate well with her new plum-hued front door.
She discovered just how much the shutters were fading when she moved the shutter dog! Wow! She scraped all the loose paint off first and followed by sanding the shutters with a grit sandpaper followed by a fine sandpaper for a smooth finish. After being satisfied that she had a good base layer that would not flake off, she primed the shutters with an exterior-rated acrylic primer to provide a good painted surface for the Front Door Paint.
Here is a shot of the in-between process with the primer applied (left). Already looking so good!! Debbie shares that she knows her neighbors got a few good chuckles watching her try to level up the ladder with a board out of the trash.
Debbie chose the medium gray tone Mysterious and applied two coats for extra coverage over the white primer she used. She used Front Door Paint knowing that the colors will not fade in any weather and that it is recommended for all exterior doors and shutters.
The transformation is starting to come together!
Here is a finished close-up shot of the shutters! The Mysterious gray also allowed her beautiful garden to take center stage.
Here is the "after" shot of Debbie's home front. The shutters look so good and compliment her front door, which was also painted with Modern Masters Front Door Paint in the color Playful, so amazingly well.

Debbie Hayes did a fantastic job with her shutters makeover and we always love when she shares her Modern Masters projects with us!
