Once you start.. you will want to make more...

Terrariums (enclosed, indoor garden, usually small and made of glass so that you can see your collection of plants) have been on my to-do lists for quite some time, but you know how it goes…I’ll do it next month, and then you forget. I was at a friends house a weekend or so ago and she had several of them and I thought…I love how they create that cozy feeling.. what am I waiting for??? They really aren’t that hard and you can give them your own creative touch with figurines or decorations and bring some DIY Landscaping indoors.

Supplies

Here is the supplies that you will need to make your own DIY Landscaping pieces:

Glass Container – can be open or have a lid

Rocks/stones/pebbles

Potting soil

Small plants

*small decorations.. I have tons of ideas… I was thinking about getting a small gnome on a ladder and making it looks like he’s escaping… I couldn’t find that at the garden center, so I did fairy’s instead..

My DIY Landscaping supplies came from a couple of different places:

Marshalls, a local thrift store, Lowe’s, and a local garden center: Ballantyne Gardens.

Directions:

One inch layer of rocks /pebbles

couple inches of potting soil

add your plants – start with the largest one first and fill in

add decorative sand/moss on top to help keep the plants moist

add your decorations or figurines

water them according the directions on the plant label

This is such a great adult and kid friend DIY project. I tried a sand project with my 4 year old niece several years ago…what can I say except… I didn’t think… we had a tsunami instead of a rock garden… She had fun… her parents – let’s just say we can laugh about it now. oops. Aunt Lori did it again :)

Have fun with this project, add military men and make it a rain forest, add legos’, make a fairy garden like I did. What are your ideas? Have fun, be creative, let your inner child free !!!!
