Turning a cheapo Goodwill bookshelf into a custom made project...sort of!

I took a twenty dollar Goodwill bookshelf and turned it into one that will look like a REAL wood bookshelf. It isn't painted in this post, but it will be soon. I'm showing in this one how to add about $25 worth of trim to make this bookshelf look custom made....sort of! lol

I have a question . If it's a cheap bookshelf it's made of partial board. That's not easy to secure with nails it's splits easy. What did you do to secure the trim.
