Updating 60's Bathroom Vanity

Mark F.
by Mark F.
Had a vanity, but not the money for new one. Decided to paint vanity and counter top.
Removed faucet and gave the vanity a good cleaning.
Taped off vanity. Applied 2-3 coats of Rustolium counter top paint.

Home Depot customized the paint since the product did not offer white.
Painted vanity base Paris Gray (Annie Sloan Chalk Paint) and then coated/sealed with Annie Sloan clear soft wax.
With craft acrylic paint, paint brushes, blending brush and turkey/duck feathers painted faux marble. Once paint was dry put on 3-5 coats of a rub-on high gloss sealer (Minwax)
Added new faucet and vanity was completed.
Total project came in under $250.00 and I am very pleased with the end results.

This is a wonderful idea!! Thank you for sharing it. I would like to know what did you use to either sand or whatever you may have done to the countertop to make the paint stick/absorb?

It has been over two years everything is holdiong up well. Because of water issue, vanity, I made sure to put several coats of sealer. In the future if I do a project like this again I might consider doing an expoxy. I hop this helps.

the vanity turned out really nice. have you considered painting the blue tiles? i see that you have them as a backsplash and along the walls.
