Kids Room Make-over: Playing With Wall Stamps
I have reminisced on my fascination with foxes recently, but what you don’t know is that I took a step further. Quite a few steps, actually! Jean’s room has had a few make-overs in the last couple of years, but the last one left his room entirely white. I saw a fantastic image with a black graphic printed onto a stark wall, and decided that was just the thing to do.
I designed a very simple triangular stamp, representing a foxes head.
I used a sponge roller to apply the paint and tested the pattern on paper and plaster first – most stamps are made to be used with ink so when using paint, which is a much thicker medium, you might get a different effect.
Stamping in a random fashion makes things a bit easier by giving you room for error and results in a completely unique pattern. I decided to work with a basic more-or-less spacing of about 15cm to give the pattern some rythm. The prints are all upright, with roughly every 7th one upside down – just for fun!
