Home offices are a favorite room to makeover. The focus is usually on organization and efficiency. Color may not always be at the top of the list. However in this makeover, color makes all the difference.
This office wasn’t messy. It was abandoned. Abandoned spaces are magnets for clutter. The wall color, well, the wall color wasn't conducive to a productive work place either.

The homeowner didn’t feel at home in this space, and so she ended up working elsewhere, even though her business had grown in leaps and bounds over the recent years. She deserved an office, but this alcove off the master bedroom had become just a storage space.
The room had great bones. It just needed to be purged, used more effectively and brightened up.
There were two ugly black (but sturdy and free!) file cabinets that were painted a custom color mix of Annie Sloan Decorative Chalk Paint ® color just for this project. We didn't cover the entire room in coral and blue, but used them to add WOW to the space.
The desk didn't have drawers, but that wasn't a problem. We used these simple plastic bins to create oodles of organization on shelves.
We purged all unnecessary items and only kept items that would move the business forward. We even made use of some plastic dollar store picture frames that now look like a million bucks after painting them the same custom color as the file cabinets.

The room is now cheery, inviting and much more efficient for the homeowner to use. Click over to see the full room final reveal.

I just love the way this office is framed in with some elegant, heavy curtains, and easily separated from the master bedroom.
