Cottage-inspired Mirror With Shelf

Hi there Hometalkers! How about a fun little thrifty makeover today? I am so excited I was able to marry two ho-hum pieces to create this pretty hanging accent piece that is also super functional:
Cute, right? It started out as this chunky wood shelf I found at a thrift store for $6:
And this dated mirror that cost me one whole dollar at a yard sale:
I painted them with white chalk paint, sanded them a bit, and then waxed them for protection.
I changed out the eagle for an old lamp finial:
Then I attached the mirror to the shelf using these angled metal brackets I already had. I would have used straight ones, but these saved me a trip to the store! I also added hanging hardware.
I love it hanging here in my bedroom.
Beachy accessories work perfectly to dress it up!
Now I'll be keeping my eyes open to see what else I can put together!
