What's one of the easiest and least expensive curb appeal boosters you can do quickly? A tree surround!
After planting an apple tree to make friends with local deer, Ohio homeowner Liz Foreman added a super-simple tree surround made of pavers. It's a great way to add curb appeal in a sea of green grass.

She added mulch to keep weeds from sprouting; the ring keeps the mulch contained. And as the tree grows, the pavers can be moved outward easily.

Here's how the yard looked before the tree and surround. As you can see, there's not much going on.

Foreman opted for simple concrete pavers that cost about $1.30 per at her local big-box retailer. With about 10 pavers and a bag of mulch (around $5), the grand total was less than $30.

And what a difference it made to her curb appeal!

Want a perfect circle for your tree surround? Tie a rope around the tree and pull it taut. Using the tight rope as a marker, trace a circle around the tree with a spade or shovel. The looped rope keeps the spade exactly the same distance from the base of the tree. More tips:
