I painted these as Christmas gifts so when Spring comes, they will bring another smile.

What do you use to protect the paint but still allow it to be used for a plant? I used to paint terra cotta pots and used a lacquer on the outside and inside of pot but when I filled with soil and a plant they always peeled and ruined my design.
