Install Faux Wooden Beams

Architectural detail is given to a room's plain slanted ceiling. The faux beams (they are not intended for structural applications), were built on a three sided box design, out of 1 x 4 material. Then they were attached to the 2 x 4 cleats on the ceiling.
They totally transformed the feeling of the room!

My concerns are when putting up the beams what do you use to keep them mounted?

I am doing this using reclaimed lumber that would have otherwise ended up in a landfill. However my ceiling truss spacing is off, so not sure how to anchor a couple of the cleats that don't have a truss above. Any suggestions?

I just need to know how to install them to the ceiling, and keeping them in place and not falling
