From Country To Contemporary: A Dining Room Makeover

My original dining area was done in the late 90's and was definitely a country room! All of the furniture was natural pine with some white and blue accents. It was fine at the time, but now I wanted something more contemporary.
The original space was a lot of pine! It also needed some functional upgrades...a bigger table, a countertop for serving buffet dinners, a wine fridge to keep the vino cold and more storage!
The final result is a more dramatic and contemporary dining area.
I started by separating the china hutch into the top and bottom, and painted it to match the kitchen cabinets. And painted the walls a more moody blue.
I created an upholstered backdrop (similar to a headboard but it adds drama to the empty wall).
Then I added a table with a built-in extension and benches. It seats a lot more people and with benches you can squish more people in if necessary :)
I splurged with a new wine fridge and buffet...they provide lots of storage and surfaces for the buffet!
