Ugly Beast Turned Beauty

Antique Record Player Cabinet Redo
This months Contest was the theme "icing on the cake" and it was a monster of a job. It fought me but I fought back.
Peeling veneer; mixing stained wood putty and filling the cracks.
Lots of sanding and then finally staining and painting.
It's done.
The onion skin was peeled off.
And all of the old contact paper too.
The missing bottom was reconstructed with my treadle sewing machine parts pile.
I repaired the broken top frame.
And the lid.
I boxed in where the gramophone was. Then decoupage with paper napkins.
Then added wood carvings and appliques.

Painted.

And waxed with pearl and dark waxes.
After weeks of battling... the cabinet was finished.
It makes a great beverage center.
Or side server.
This months Contest theme is "icing on the cake".

Beautiful! Where did you get the waxes and what kind are they?

You did a beautiful job! Funny you used parts from your treadle machine pile because it is so appropriate. Your cabinet was not originally an old gramophone cabinet at all. It was originally a New Home treadle sewing machine cabinet circa 1910!
