Do you like the look of exposed wood beams? Me too. Do you like the price of exposed wood beams? ME EITHER. Those suckers might as well be dipped in gold for the $$ they go for. So, for a long time, my beam dreams were an unobtainable fantasy. Until...
we discovered FAUX BEAMS!
That's right! They make faux beams that cost a FRACTION of what the real ones do! AND they are much easier to work with. Since they are constructed of high density foam, they are WAAAY lighter and easier to maneuver and install.
This was our family room pre-beam.
DURING.

The process of installing them wasn't too bad! We've written out all the details over on the blog. Check it out if you're interested in trying this yourself!

BOTTOM line is that we love what these did to the TOP of our space. They direct your eye up, but still bring in a "cozy" factor to this room that could otherwise feel kind of cold with it's high, vaulted ceilings.

So, if you like the look of beams, you may want to give this DIY a try. Nervous? Faux-get about it! We'll teach you how. And if you decide to go for it, we "wood" love to see how they turn out for you!
