Using this technique you can use any fabric you choose. All you really need is a can and some fabric. Great to help organize small items with a decorative touch.
Make the bottom with a knitting loom close to the size of the diameter of your can.

Wrap your can with the fabric of your choice securing with knots.

Weave up the sides of the can with the same strips you attached to the bottom.

Attach one last fabric strip to the top of the basket by looping all woven strips around it.

Finish the top off with two rows of alternating knots.

Remove the basket from the can, trim excess and enjoy. If your can had a lid, place it in the bottom of your basket for added durability and prevent objects from slipping through.
Enjoy your basket. Make one with different colors of strips. Using this technique you can incorporate several different colors or just a couple of strips for a touch of color.
Add a different color here or there
Or really go crazy with all your favorite colors.
Go crazy with color!

@Miriam I Thanks Miriam, it seemed like it helped to have something solid behind the weaving to help it keep it's shape.

These are so cute. I especially like the multi colored one with the fringe. Very creative.
