Dreaded mirror tiles

Question

Don't like them but too messy to remove.  Can they be painted?  If so, what product.

Hi! I did a search to see if this is feasible as I've thought of doing it myself, just to paint a faux border around my massive bathroom vanity mirror. An I've read where some people have stenciled onto mirrors to make them look different. Here's some info I located and it says the key is being certain the mirrors are clean. The problem with painting out glass mirrors..... is that they are GLASS... by painting them over... your forget what they are... and that can lead to carelessness around them.... if you don't like them.... tape the hell out of them.... put a heavy tarp, like a canvas one, in the bath tub... and carefully break up the mirror and remove them.

Marty makes a good point on the dangers of glass and to be honest, around a tub is exponentially more dangerous. I'd hire someone to take them out. A pro would have equipment to safely remove them. If you do attempt it yourself completely cover them with tape or contact paper adhesive type material and wear thick coated gloves and safety glasses.

Such a weird place for mirrors.. Are you worried since they're mirrors and the stigma of them being broken to remove them? Better to take a couple hours of wasted time to replace them to something more likable then have something not liked!!

Definitely not worried about breaking, was just looking for a somewhat simple DIY solution.

If there are no little metal brackets holding them on the wall you may be able to gently pry them off. They could just be glued up there.

You could also etch them. Trace & cut your stencil from mac tac stick on tile and paint on etching fluid (available at craft stores). Follow directions and carefully wipe clean.
