How to update a 1970 bathroom vanity without replacing

New countertop, new faucet, new hardware on cabinet. New paint or stain. Add trimwork to face and sides of cabinet.

Is the marble top stained? If so, you can start a lemon juice and salt scrub on it. Use the cut lemon halves as scrubbers. Squeeze some juice on the stains, cover with salt, and let it sit about 30 minutes. Then scrub, at least three times all over the top. Then rinse, dry with paper towels or a white towel, rub until you have a shine. Run the lemon halves through the garbage disposal, or scrub the kitchen sink with them. Paint is the best way to update cabinets/a vanity. You can paint it a solid color, or use chalk paint and give it a distressed, vintage look. You can change out any hardware, as well. If you want to redo the countertop, they sell kits from Gianni and Rustoleum that are fairly inexpensive. I painted my countertop in my bathroom and it is holding up well, and I also painted the vanity (I actually just used acrylic craft paint!). Here is my project, in two separate posts:
