Bathroom Vanity in Custom Color!
We remodeled our bathroom from top to bottom and I wanted a custom color for my vanity - Mission accomplished with beautiful Unicorn Spit!
I started with an inspiration picture and then tested out my colors on an unfinished piece of craft wood. My unicorn spit colors are Zia Teal, Navajo Jewel, and Patina Peacock (which is a sparkle color version)
First I dry buffed the zia teal over the entire vanity. You just put a bit of full strength spit on a cloth and buff it onto the wood. It stains the wood and you can still see the grain. Once that was dry I added streaks of the navajo jewel in various areas of the wood grain to give it depth. Take a cloth and rub the streaks so it blends in vs looking like stripes. Spit drys chalky looking so don't be alarmed.
Then I took a brush and painted over everything with the Patina Peacock sparkle color. You don't need a lot of product - I squirted a little bit at a time on a paper plate and painted a light layer.
The final step was to seal it with Spar Urethane since this was going to be in a "wet" environment. The clear gloss makes the unicorn spit colors absolutely glow - it's amazing! I used a foam applicator and did 3 coats. This took the longest because the coats took forever to dry. I ended up having to put a space heater in the room I was working on to help things along. I waited 2 days between each coat and covered the vanity with a plastic sheet to keep out dust and dog hair....
My camera isn't the best and the pictures just don't capture how gorgeous the colors are with the sparkle under the gloss sealer....Even my contractor couldn't get over how pretty it was and couldn't wait to show his wife...
Here it is installed - I was able to find a medicine cabinet in white and of course had to match the color of the vanity...
