Vanity Facelift

I saw this vanity on a Habitat ReStore post and since I know a young lady who is definitely a girly-girl, I thought I'd better check it out. It ended up not exactly what I was looking for, but I had driven over an hour to see it so...what the heck, give it a try. It was what was in the drawer that made me take it home!
Everything is in really good shape. Very solid and not any damage. BUT...not a sliver of wood in this thing. Couldn't get a splinter if you tried. All poly-resin. I was hoping for a stain & paint makeover and now it would have to be all paint. Never a first choice for me. But, it was what was in the drawer that made me decide to bring it home with me...
GLITTER!! The girly-girl that I have in mind for this piece is the Princess of Glitter! Meant to be.
Outside for a clean-up.
The old hardware will have to go. Lots of storage for girly stuff.
Love the swing out "drawers" on the sides.
First, I take over the garage. Take it all apart next. I know I am going to use two colors of chalk paint, Mariana Blue and Coral Resort. First I painted the pieces that were going to end up Mariana Blue with a black chalk paint. I thought it would make the blue "bluer". The Coral Resort pieces got a base coat of the Mariana Blue so that when I distress them the blue will show through.
All done with the chalk paint.
I dry brushed some of the blue on the coral pieces and distressed the whole thing. Then I gave it all a coat of poly. And then another coat of poly. And another. Hardware from Hobby Lobby.
Hobby Lobby hardware.
Reupholstered the seat.
And it's all done. Totally not the project I thought it was going to be. But it's fit for a Princess....of Glitter!!
Enjoyed the project?
