Ikea Rast Makeover

$50
We recently moved to Cleveland and I needed some extra storage in our spare bedroom. I decided on the Ikea Rast 3 drawer chest as an economical solution. They are solid wood and only $35. I decided to give it a little makeover from its plain wood finish with some Benjamin Moore tinted chalkboard paint and a white Sharpie paint pen. I drew a whimsical Cleveland skyline on the drawers and added antique brass knobs from Hobby Lobby instead of the plain wood ones that came with it. Now we have a storage solution with personality! Total cost for the project was $50. hack
Before and after photo.
I used a roller to paint the chest and drawers with tinted Benjamin Moore chalkboard paint I had leftover from another project.
Details of the skyline and antique brass knobs. I googled images of the Cleveland Skyline. Lightly traced it out with a pencil and then added the whimsical details with a white sharpie paint pen.
It doubles as a night stand in our spare bedroom.

Great idea! The first thing I thought was, I hope you saved one of those plain wooden knobs. Painted white and installed on the top drawer, it would look like a full moon. -
