I took part in a thrift store swap with my fellow DIY bloggers to create some inspiring pieces. You can read the whole story on the blog (if you wish), but I had to upcycle two items - an old drawer and an empty pickle jar. I decided to make it pretty and turn it into a beautiful spring centerpiece at a fraction of cost (using items I already had at home). If you are re-creating this, I promise it will not cost you too much!
I cleaned the drawer and the empty jar and removed the old drawer knob.
I had some old drawer knobs I screwed to the bottom to create ‘legs’ for my box, and then painted the drawer using some chalk paint in mint colour.

To add a little bit of extra chic to the centerpiece I put some decorative mouldings and distressed the box a little to create a lovely shabby chic look. I then turned to the pickle jar.. I simply added a little hessian and lace ribbon around it, then glued a nice little embellishment using a hot glue gun.
Then I added some plants to some glass containers, put a few pebbles in the box to fill it up and my centerpiece was ready!
