"On the Night You Were Born" Toy Chest

This was one of my favorite commissions!! It was so much fun to do.
I was to paint a specified scene from the children's story minus the castle and with a night sky behind it.
The client also wanted me to take this antique chest to a dark rich walnut color.

After. Beautifully stained and polycryliced inside!
You can see how I painted not over the stain but just used it to blend the night sky into the piece.
Painting away! I painted slightly over the stain, but not much. Stain bleeds through over time so you have to only paint over it when you were wanting to blend the stain and the paint.
Wrote my quote in pencil and then painted away!
The scene from the book I was to emulate. The client just wanted the birds and the moon with a different night sky which I post about in the next picture.
The night sky I was to emulate. Client sent me this pic.
Trying to nail down that face!
