I snagged this cute little play kitchen on the curb from a neighbor and had an idea! I love to redo furniture and make things my own. While this kitchen was perfectly fine before, I wanted to spice it up a bit and make it more unique. I grabbed some paint I had on hand, a few new cans of spray paint and some peel and stick wallpaper and got to work!

Before - super cute little play kitchen, just wasn't my style.

Step One - Remove all handles and anything else you could remove. Stove pieces etc.

Materials Needed

  • paint
  • paint brush
  • spray paint
  • screw driver
  • paint can opener
  • painters tape
  • peel and stick wallpaper
  • scissors

I had most of this on hand. All I purchased was the spray paint and peel and stick wallpaper. Spray paint is from Walmart and peel and stick wallpaper is from Dollar Tree.

Step Two - Remove doors and smaller pieces

I removed just about everything I could without completely disassembling it.

Step Three - Paint!

I used some paint I had on hand. This is a chalk paint (not the one shown in materials photo - I thought I grabbed the right can).

The white was just a regular wall paint.

Step Four - Spray Paint

I used the spray paint I got from Walmart to paint the handles. I used gold and black spray paint. I did two coats of each and then sealed it with a spray sealer.

Spray paint used. I think this is a new line of spray paint from Walmart and I love it! They have some really good color options.

I used two cans of gold, and just a little out of the black and sealer.

I did two coats of paint. Time to dry took the longest.

While everything was taken apart I put the peel and stick wallpaper on the back splash and I also added it to the inside of the fridge and microwave too! To do this you just simply get the size you need and peel it off and stick to the surface and cut away any extra with scissors or an xacto knife.

Step Five - Put everything back together

I love how this turned out! I think it is so much cuter than it was before and it fits the decor of my house so much better now!

I added some baskets and wooden fruit from Amazon to make it a real kitchen!
