I love a good furniture flip so when I found this old rocking chair I knew it was in need of an update! So I decided to give it a makeover myself!
The rocker was in very good shape, so I knew I wouldn't need to change it so much. Really it just needed some fresh paint and a new cushion. Someone had started to strip the wood, but it was not very good wood and there was no wood grain - so I opted to paint it with chalk paint.
The chair was in good shape - it did not require the usual gluing or reinforcements that rickety old furniture usually needs.
I used a gray chalk paint, but didn't like the one dimensional look of the paint, so I wiped on a black stain over the gray (very lightly), and wiped it off after applying it to give it some dimension. Then recovered the seat with a chosen toile fabric and new cushion and reattached it to the chair.
The before and after photos are amazing and this was such a simple furniture flip! I hope you like it!
Suggested materials:

  • Ebony stain

Nice job..good choice to use the stain over the paint..every room needs a good rocker in it.
