You wouldn't believe that this headboard/footboard set was so easy to make by looking at it. Following plans from Ana White, I created this set for our king sized bed and am ecstatic about the results! Check out how I made it here and even more details on my blog.
Framed out the plywood with 1x4s. Measured to size of the bed that is needed. More details on my site.
Stained plywood backing. Don't want light color to shine through after shims are added. More details on my site.
Finished adding shims, staggered randomly, and next trimmed off the excess on each end. More details on my site.
Stained the shims with dark walnut. More details on my site. More details on my site.
Do the same process with the footboard, only smaller of course.
Add legs. More details on my site.
Looks amazing close-up too! More details on my site.
