Toning Down a Bright Craft Drawer Unit

I love the storage this gives me, but I am not into bright colors, especially orange. So, with about 10 hours to kill, I changed it to something unique to my kitchen. You can do the same or something very close.
I crochet chains of yarn and make things out of them. Seeing as it took hours to glue this around one drawer, by the time I started the second of ten, I said "just two"!
I often crochet chains and make things with them. This is labor and time intensive, so I decided when I started the second one that two would be enough. I took all the knobs off and went to work with my trusty dusty hot glue gun!
NOTE: If you want to you can certainly skip the yarn. The denim looks great or you can make this with other fabrics.
If you need an estimate of how much yarn to use for the two drawers your ball should be about the size of a large orange.
I don't know how I did it but I actually yarn pooled. Anyway, I started the yarn in the back of each drawer and went around so each row would not "spiral" and it also saved yarn. If the back of your drawers show like mine did not, I would spiral them.
When the first and second drawer were done, I went to denim strips. Much easier and faster.
I made the strips about 1" wide and that meant I only needed 3-4 around. It was done in 1/4 of the time. Again, I made each row independent.
When I did the denim strips, I had to poke a hole through where the knob would go back on.
I have tons of little kitchen things like drink mixes, stir sticks, mini plastic food containers, tools, etc. It really clears up the clutter!!
And here is the finished product.
This is now functional but with soft and muted colors to match my blue and yellow kitchen. Enjoy!
