I have a metal bedstead and want to transform it

I need it for the height, but don't like the fact it is double ended and my room is only small. It's black with brass finials. I don't want the feet end to be so tall. Would it be o.k to cut it off and I'd like to know if a slot over padded top end would work?? Please can somebody help? Please help!! Thank you Sue

Why not just leave off the footboard end? It would certainly make the room less crowded. Just put the mattress on a bedframe and attach that to the headboard only. It sounds like a nice bed and you may later regret having cut the footboard down. Further explain the 'slot over padded top end'.

Hi, thank you for replying to my question. To be honest funds are low and was trying the DIY route! I was thinking of boxing in the top end with a wooden MDF/Ply. Then padding and buttoning the MDF/Ply. All of this only because I need the bed to be high. I have to admit I've probably gone down the hard route but desperately need the under bed storage. Kindest regards Sue

Oh, Sue...if I had known. Go to Bed Bath & Beyond and get bedlifters!!! Only about $12 and they lift the bed up just for this purpose! Much easier than remaking your bed, dear. Hope this helps. Ro
