Pat, pelmets are really just valances. You can have a seamstress or interior designer make them for you, and they will handle the woodworking part of it when they make the entire thing. As a retired interior decorator, I sometimes made them entirely out of wood. If you live near a Calico Corners store, they can make them. A carpenter will only do what you design for him, so if you have no clue about design, hire a decorator/designer/seamstress or even a big Home Depot sometimes has a design dept.
