Make It Yourself Denim Footstool

I love footstools, not only are they great footrests when lounging on the couch but they can also provide extra seating at large family gatherings.
No need to go out and buy one but you can make a footstool from scratch very cheaply at home. The advantage of making your own footstool is that you can make it to the exact size you want and any design you want
I had some short hairpin legs in my shed. Hairpin legs are great for turning anything into furniture. They come in a variety of sizes and colors, and can be used in so many different ways (see here).
You can use other types of legs for your footstool too. Just look on eBay or Amazon and you'll find lots of designs to choose from.
You also need some dense foam and plywood to make the footstool. Plus fabric to cover the seat pad with. I love denim and used an old pair of jeans to cover my footstool.
First, cut the plywood base to the size you want your footstool to be.
Then using a knife cut the dense foam to fit the plywood base.
Sick the foam pad to the plywood and then cover the seat with wadding. Use a staple gun to secure the wadding to the underside.
Cut open the jeans at the leg. Then cut a piece of denim across the seat large enough to cover the footstool seat.
Wrap the denim over the foam and again use staples to hold it in place. Use "hospital" corners to fold the denim on the corners.
I tidied up the underside of the footstool with some scrap fabric. I then screwed in the hairpin legs one by one.
For more details and photos follow the link in the bio below.
I'm so pleased with how the footstool turned out. To add a bit more interest to the denim seat, I added a couple of fun embroidery patches to the denim pockets.
The footstool goes with the handy denim ottoman with storage that I made from an old wooden crate (see here).

Finally! A way to use all my old jeans that won't fit anymore because of that quarantine weight lol. LOVE THIS IDEA!
