Corner kitchen islands with seating
Leona on Nov 16, 2016I have seen where a long "shelf table" was placed below windows and chair height ottomans (no backs) were slid under and out of the way when not in use. The seats could be made to hold "stuff" too.Helpful Reply

Bombshell on Nov 17, 2016You could build a banquette very cheaply out of cube shelving from Walmart. I have these. They're very sturdy and a lot of people lay them on their sides to use as seating. See photos. They come in 3 and 4 cubes so you could put two 3 cubes together for more length, then 4 on the other wall making an L shape. Below is a link so you can see pricing and what they look like. Oh, and if you want more height you can add legs inexpensively. Add stylish bins for awesome storage. https://www.walmart.com/ip/29741112?wmlspartn... If you do this make sure to get the bins that go with the Better Homes and Gardens cube shelving. They have a lot of styles and colors to choose from. If you do this right it could look very comfy and high-end depending on your style. Good luck on your project!Helpful Reply
Bronwyn Newman on Dec 01, 2016Given window placing in the room it might be best to keep the long edge of the table under the window on the right. You could still use the table you have with a fresh coat of paint, varnish or wax. The chairs you have could also be painted in different colours or to match the table. For a completely different look, if you're brave. Cut foam to fit just inside the seat base. Cover with some fresh fabrics and attach and dress the new cushion seat with upholstery tacks. By just using the large window, you can keep the corner free to move around the table and allow you to use the display cupboard in the corner. The cube cupboard is a fantastic idea and I have used it previously. But, I also found it annoying that I always had to move the table to access them (dangerous for floor boards). By having only one side on the seating, you can access the contents without having to move furniture. Consider a box with strut lid. It also gives you more freedom with the size of what you need to store. Baskets and cubes inserts can still be use inside to keep it organised and are just as easily lifted out as they are pulled out. But much more readily accessible and put away. Using the same idea as the chairs, you could have a very comfortable window seat. And as someone else said. A couple of cushions and you could change the feel and style of your room without having to remodel again in a couple of seasons.Helpful Reply
