This project is so easy to do, it will blow your mind! I love to use pallets because I can find them for free and they give a rustic look to my home and decor: perfect for fall! I saw this idea on Pinterest and decided to give a go. Start with a pallet that looks like this:
Lop off one end with a circular saw or a hacksaw if you are not comfortable with power tools. To see exactly where to cut visit my blog post. Only 3 cuts required and you are ready to go!
Cut a piece of wood to fit over the bottom and attach it with screws and wood glue.
Once the glue has dried, sand down the whole thing and stain it!
It is truly that simple! Here's my finished bookshelf. If you do not know already from my blog, our family really loves Dr. Seuss! I even painted a mural of the Lorax in my son's room and handpainted Cat in The Hat furniture. This bookshelf will be a great way to store our favorite Dr. Seuss stories.
This shelf can also hang on the wall for other uses. I threw flowers in mine to show how it can be an indoor wall planter. Also, the width fits a bottle of wine perfectly! It would be a beautiful wine rack for a rustic or Tuscan decorated house.
