You roll the article in peanut butter and then roll it in bird seed and then hang with a string or wire. Here are some other ideas for bird seed feeders to make with kids too https://familyfocusblog.com/?s=bird+feeder
You can use half an orange, fruit removed, spread it with grape jelly and sprinkle in seeds. We then use string to hang it. We've also done peanut butter and seeds on pine cones and toilet paper rolls. Hope this helps!
In the winter , I always made these with my children ! We would pick pine cones from the ground . Then I would tie string of fishing line around the top of stick a thumb tack into the top and the string around that . It It easier and less messy to do this before putting peanut butter and seed on it !!! Then rub peanut butter all over the cone then roll it in bird seed . Then hang them in the trees . Enjoy watching the birds !!!
