River rock or some other gravel sounds like an excellent idea.Helpful Reply -

river rock should work as it would form a 'French drain'(usually gravel is used). water goes through and doesn't stand on top of ground. might stir up top 4" of dirt and mix in some sand so it's easier for the water to pass throughHelpful Reply -

Try burying a milk crate - upside down - cover with a permeable membrane, then the soil, making sure it's level etc. You'll need a deep hole. I have done this over a larger wet area in my garden and it does workHelpful Reply -

If you have any watering at all outside you could install a rain barrel with the downspout of gutter running into this barrel. Shop Amazon for a rain barrel water nozzle kit and you are set to go. We did this because of the exact same reason and now I have a huge 55 gallon barrel full of water to keep my flowers and garden going all summer.Helpful Reply -

I would dig out the area where the water runs, line it with landscape cloth or plastic, then fill with rocks. Depending on how "public" this area is, you could train your puppy to use this area to do his/her "duty". We had such an area at our last house and we'd just tell our dog to "go rocks" and our yard was spared!Helpful Reply -

Thanks for your thoughts! That is the line my mind was heading with the rocks. Didn't think about it being potty for pup! Good idea!Helpful Reply -

Pipe it into a plant pot or into a drain made from a 4" plastic pipe planted vertically as deep as you need for the soil type with gravel at the bottom and drill drain holes in the sidesHelpful Reply -

Our heating AC unit drain out water too but it is very hot water, so check it to make sure it isn't so it don't burn your puppy's tongue.Helpful Reply -
