Where is the grease build-up? On the stovetop? Pans or cookie sheets?

I am not sure what kind of mess but I have just cleaned my long awaited dirty gas oven with a mix of a box of baking soda, quarter cup of white vinegar, and a couple tablespoons of salt, made a paste, put it on the oven floor and walls and door inside, let it set for about 4 hours or so, then used a scrubby sponge to clean it all of, it came off fairly easy.

I always go to my handy dish scraper first. Strip off as much buildup as you can. Then use a heavy grade Dawn dishwashing soap straight from the bottle. Just smear it on with your hand and let it sit about 5 minutes. Use a nylon scrubbie to really get to the bottom of things. Scrape again. Then all you should have to do after that is rinse and wipe until the surface is clean.

i like to make a strong mix of Pinesol Lemon and warm water. It cuts through the grease.
