How to Remove these stains

I purchased these vanity lights at local ReStore and cleaned with vinegar and water. However, one has these marks (seems like maybe prior sticky residue) that did not come off. I don't want to harm the brushed nickle finish, so asking for advice before proceeding.

Not sure if this will help... try in a non obvious spot... make a a bit of a paste with baking soda and water and a either soft cloth or a soft tooth brush ...hope this helps.

Gumout at the auto store....I use it on my car to remove glue from signs and it does not harm the paint
