White spots when dried.
How to clean/restore natural stone?

What's the most effective natural method to clean and restore the travertine tiles in the shower? The white is soap scum?

Thanks for the great articles and a simple bleach solution. Will give it a try.
Never, NEVER use bleach on natural stone!! We learned this one the hard way. My husband used bleach on my limestone shower and it completely etched the stone. There is a stone cleaner that you can find at any large hardware store or contact an installer to see if they sell it.
Check Lysol Power Bathroom Cleaner to see if it's safe for the stone. I know bleach isn't and I'm not sure about vinegar. Another item to check into is Wet & Forget Shower but I know it's not safe for marble.
Don't use vinegar!
No bleach, no vinegar, it's acid and eats away at the finish and eventually the tiles themselves. William provided excellent sites. Rinse the shower well after each use to keep the soap scum from accumulating.
Thanks for the warnings. Glad I procrastinated.
Plus, after you clean it completely it's time to seal (or re-seal) the stone. You can get stone sealer at Home Depot, etc. Generally this only needs to be done every few years except that yours is constantly getting wet so probably needs it more often.
DON"T use a high gloss sealer on the shower floor!!! It can get slippery. 😎
Thanks for all the suggestions and warnings!
