After washing towels they sometime smell sour. How to fix?

First, make sure your washing machine is clean. I use baking soda and vinegar in every load and felted wool dryer balls. If you have one of the newer front loaders, I've heard that this sour smell sometimes happens. Clean around the gaskets everywhere with baking soda then spray on vinegar to clean even more. This can actually work with a top loader too. Sometimes they just need cleaning. Click on the link below for more information. Throw in about 1/2 c white vinegar in the washer with the towels when washing. Put them in the dryer immediately when done washing. Leave the washer door open to air dry. -

In your final rinse add 1/2 cup vinegar with your fabric softener. Your towels wont have an odor and you can’t smell the vinegar. -

My nephew has a similar problem if he doesn't remove things as soon as the washer stops. So, his solution is to get them out fast. He has a Kenmore top loading machine but it works much like a front loader. -
