Hi there, a power washer is the first thing that comes to my mind. Over time wood just gets grungy, you could also sand them down and refinish them too -

I'd use a pressure washer but keep back so you don't blast the wood fibers apart. Do you have any special challenges or is it just dirt? -

If it's not too bad, use Murphy's Oil Soap. -

Hi Colleen. I would get a bucket and mix Murphys oil soap with water, and scrub them down. Then rinse. I have done this and it worked very well. After it all dries maybe get some clear coat protective in a spray can to put on them. -

Murphy's Oil Soap! Just like for indoor woodwork. Also Old English products work well too. -
