How to remove an odor from old dresser

I have an old dresser that has an odor caused from water damage. Does anyone know how to remove it?

Try putting a box of baking soda or an order eater container .Let sit for a few days and see whats happens. You may have to repeat the process.

place a bowl of vinegar inside and leave it there for awhile. It will smell a little like vinegar for a bit but it will usually get rid of the mildew smell and then fade away.

I've had luck with on certain pieces and fails with others but after a gentle cleaning try placing it outside in the sun. Fill the drawers with newspaper and place bowls of kitty litter or charcoal in with the newspaper. Leave out all day and it may take another couple days. Spreading a thick layer of baking soda on affected area has worked for me as well. Another option is to seal it with poly or paint. Good luck!

Crumple up newspaper and fill the drawers loosely but full. Leave it a bout a week. The smell will still be there when you open the drawers...but not after you remove the newspaper! The smell goes in the trash bag with the paper. Works with cat pee...should work with mildew.

I might try Febreeze, spraying it in the drawers. Also might try washing everything down with Lisol to kill any mold/mildew that is around. I am intrigued by the newspaper idea!!

I've used vodka to remove a musty smell! It worked. Bought a cheap bottle to have on hand!
