Restore Furniture Hardware

Many times I will replace hardware or even spray paint it but not this time. I decided to bring a little life back into these awesome pieces.

This furniture hardware had seen better days. This is how the hardware looked when I removed it from a dated piece of furniture from the 80's
These 2 products gave this old hardware a new look. Be sure to use the grade steel wool so you don't scratch the hardware.
Look how much better each piece looked. I didn't clean completely in the grooves because liked how it left some character.
This is how it looked after I painted the furniture and put it back on.

I have a over 100 yr old brass bed. It looks it's age do u think this method would work to brighten it up. Would it take away the value of the piece.
