Nancy, my best friend's mechanic husband gave me a tip I had never heard before but it works AMAZING. Off bug spray cleans headlights better than anything I have ever found. Don't spray it right on them (it is not good for your car's paint) spray it on a cloth and get to scrubbing. It does wonders.
My dad swears by toothpaste! :)
Toothpaste works great.

Yes! a small amount of toothpaste on a soft cloth will work well. Scrub in a small circular motion, then rinse well using a soft cloth moistened with plain water. Works pretty much as well as those "As seen on TV" kits.
Here's a 'how-to' for the toothpaste:

Here is a way that involves toothpaste (kinda interesting!): https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=rXHTXdlWw1w
A bug spray product like Deep Woods Off has worked for some, just spray it on the clothe and rub. It will eventually wear off, so this is not a permanent solution, only replacement is.
Another technique is to sand it down with very fine sandpaper, this will get rid of the roughness you feel when your touch it, then polish with bug spray or toothpaste.
Hi Nancy, if you don't want to buy a kit you can try this idea, hope it helps

Hi Nancy,
Give White Toothpaste a try. Worked for me!
Do you have Soft Scrub? A little on a damp microfiber cloth will polish the surface.
I have never tried this but I have heard toothpaste will clean them. Apparently it takes some pressing and wiping over and over.
Hi Nancy, most Auto Parts stores carry a polishing product or system just for acrylic headlights... Turtle Wax and most of the other major brands of car wax have one.... just follow the directions. You can also use a small dab of toothpaste (the non-gel kind) on a damp cloth and gently rub it in a circular motion.
