Is it possible that dirt could come up through the hardwood floors?

Our house was built in 1953 and is pier and beam we have the original hardwood flooring. I love it but I sweep constantly and that is why the I ask that question because I don't know where some of this dirt and dust is coming from.

Tammygrace77Hometalker - Yes it is possible for dust to enter through the floor. Hardwood floors usually have opening around the perimeter of the walls for contraction. If there is not a vapor barrier between the wood flooring and sub floor it is possible with your house built on pier and beam. What is the ventilation in your home? Dust and dirt can also enter your house through your duct work. (Check filter) -

I had a house once time that had the terrazzo tiles laid on dirt and it came up through the cracks in certain places. Does your hardwood flooring sit on dirt? If not, I doubt that dirt will come up......do you have pets, a family member that works out in the soil, kids? Houses do get dusty and dirty, I know. -

yes very possible get a brush for hardwood floors for your vacuum. I always vacuum mine -
