What is the best way to eliminate musty order in basement?

My basement has flooded a couple of times so it is musty smelling. Short of gutting the basement, is there anything I can do to alleviate the order?

Good suggestions! I would also see if there's a way to keep the basement dry. You may need a sump pump if you don't have one. You may need to have some experts advise you on drainage. Our drainage needs changed when the terrain behind our house changed from wood area to a housing development. We had to look at why we are getting more drainage (the housing behind us is higher) and divert it from running straight down our driveway into our basement. Additionally, we found that the gutters needed to be diverted away from the house more than they were installed. We're also adding more drains to the bottom of our driveway to divert away from the house. Good luck! We've found a dehumidifier helpful but of course not the fix for what caused the wet in the first place!
