What is the best way to clean range hood filters?

Mine is super dirty, advice on how to clean a range hood filter would be appreciated.

Put them in the dish washer, if they fit. Or power steam them.
If you can't put in the dishwasher, fill your sink with hot water then saturate the filter with degreaser, drop in the hot water to soak. Then rinse thoroughly.
