Hi Anita, I use a strong bleach solution. Pour the bleach into the stained sink and cover with a cloth or paper towel. Usually within 10 minutes the stain will be gone and you can rinse the remaining bleach down the drain.

Hand wash some clothes in it
Not all newer sinks can tolerate bleach. Start with Bon Ami Cleanser, applied to a wet rag or sponge.
Is your sink stainless? If so, make sure to scrub, following the grain of the stainless steel.
Copper requires special cleaning agents, as does granite.
