Stores sell bags of salt, specially graded to melt salt. A small price to pay for your safety.Helpful Reply -

I am guessing you don't have any of the Ice melt they sell in hardware stores? I have actually used kosher and pickling salts (on a sunny day) and then was able to chip some aways after waiting about an hour.Helpful Reply -

Depending on where you live, if you can clear the snow or ice with a shovel, and the sun is out and it melts it dry, you’ll have a passable walk without buying anything. it depends on the circumstances for that, though.Helpful Reply -

We buy the stuff called " rock salt". Over time it will degrade your masonry, but we try to use sparingly.Helpful Reply -
