Hi Doreen,Oh how I remember the days when I used to pick up sea shells on the beach. I used to have quite a collection. :) I also remember finding sand dollars and I wanted to make them into Christmas Ornaments. Some of these shells though smelled too much like the ocean and a few smelled really bad. I remember washing the shells and putting them out in the sun for a few days and that worked. Just for the fun of it, I actually looked up the "proper" way to do it and found the article below. Wishing you the best!https://exit63.wordpress.com/how-to-clean-seashells/Helpful Reply -

Try a combination of both previous suggestions. Soak in vinegar/water, 2:1. Let them dry in the sun. When completely dry, inside and out, i spray them with flat polyurethane getting into the crevices as best as possible. If you prefer a shiny/wet look, you can use a shiny polyurethane.Helpful Reply -
