Is it true that mirrors can be cleaned with newspaper? This boggles my mind.

Can't get my windows/mirrors clean

Seems like glass cleaner doesn't work like it used to. I have used cloth, paper, and every type of spray I can get my hands on. I have tried vinegar but that also str... See more
l use windex & newspaper
If you want a chemical free solution, mix vinegar & water (50% each) then add a few drops of Dawn to the mix. Spray it on, clean the windows with a soft cloth then polish with a clean lint free cloth or newspaper. I hope this helps.
The trick is using newspaper instead of paper towels. I use a vinegar and water mix 1:3 or Pledge Multi Surface, which is good for cleaning just about anything.
I use vinegar and water, newspaper and a car wash sponge and a squeegee for large windows or sliding glass doors.
First--you can't clean glass, windows, or mirrors with the sun shining on it. I've had the best luck using about 1/4 cup ammonia and a few drops of dish detergent in 2 quarts of hot water. Use a clean wash cloth, well soaked, and wipe the surface well. Let it partly dry in the air, then dry it completely with wadded up newspapers. If the mirror has been cleaned previously with something containing any oily component, it may take more than one attempt. I have not been impressed with microfiber cloths for this job.
You could also use a 50/50 mixture of vinegar and water and wipe with a newspaper.
Looks like a good use for newspaper to make a lint free shine, although I have not personally used it, it looks promising.
Newspaper and a 50/50 vinegar and water mix works great for me.
Use old newspapers and plain white vinegar. Spray the vinegar on, wipe with the newspapers. Works ever time for me.
I used to do it all the time until I discovered SuperCloth. The down side to using newspaper is the ink will rub off onto your hands. But you just spritz your mirrors, windows, or other glass with your choice of glass cleaner and use the newspaper in lieu of a cloth or papertowel.
I find it doesn't work - I have tried it over the years and it never looked any cleaner so I use microfiber cloths for my mirrors now
I've always used glass cleaner and newspaper. I may have to try vinegar, though!
Yes, my husband swears that it's the best way to clean glass of any kind. He sprays the cleaner on the glass and then used crumpled newspaper the way you would use paper towels.
No. Yes I’ve heard of this thing too— but I usually use Windex and a microfiber cloth.
Hi Abby, newspapers are the best for cleaning mirrors and glass. Just spritz a little window cleaner on and wipe off with the nespaper. It's that easy
Unlike paper towels, newspaper sheets have a denser fiber and grittier texture that allow them to act as a light abrasive, wiping away grime on your mirrors as well as liquid. Paper towels also tend to leave behind little pieces of residue, making your mirror look even grimier.
It is true and newspapers also work great for cleaning your windows!
Yes, just spray the cleaner and use the newspaper to wipe it clean and dry.
Hi Abby, hope this helps you out. Spraying window cleaner on the window is the first step to leave them sparkling with no smudges or streaks. Then use newspaper and rub in a circular motion to loosen the dirt. After that, you have to wipe horizontally and then vertically to make sure there are no streaks and the entire liquid cleaner is absorbed.
Crush it up. Spray water and mope it clean with newspaper. It is the Carpon in the ink that shines the mirror or window!
